During her lifetime, Heidi Goëss-Horten was not only one of the richest Austrians, she was also an avid art collector. Although she rarely appeared in public, it was a major concern of hers to make the precious works from the fin de siècle (including works by Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele, Edgar Degas, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir) to contemporary art accessible to a wider audience. Her dream came true on June 3, 2022, just a few days before her death: In the former Hanuschhof in Vienna, now the Palais Goëss-Horten, a private museum called the "Heidi Horten Collection" was opened, which has delighted art lovers ever since.

PAGITSCH HELPED REALIZE A MUSEUM VISION

An intensive planning process was necessary to transform the functional building – the Hanuschhof once served as Archduke Friedrich's chancellery – into an art museum. Pagitsch GesmbH is delighted to have been able to contribute to making Heidi Goëss-Horten's vision a reality. In collaboration with many other construction specialists, the plans of the Viennese architectural firm "The Next Enterprise" were realized on time, allowing the patron to witness the opening of her museum.

Behind the historic façade of the Hanuschhof, a surprisingly generous volume of space has since opened. The exhibition space extends over three floors and a total area of 1,500 square meters. Two offset platform walls, seemingly floating, were also created. All levels are connected by staircases, creating the overall impression of a large-scale sculpture and creating rooms up to 17 meters high.

A CALM ATMOSPHERE IN ROOMS UP TO 17 METERS HIGH

It was a major challenge to dampen the resulting reverberation and thus maintain the peace and quiet necessary to appreciate historical works of art. As a plasterer and drywall specialist, Pagitsch was up to the challenge. The wall coverings, acoustic and ventilated ceilings from Lungau serve the Palais Goëss-Horten excellently. The sprayed plaster coating used by the Pagitsch specialists has proven particularly practical. In this process, fine-grained, thin-bodied mortar is mechanically sprayed onto the facades in several layers, quickly creating a uniform, vibrant surface pattern, even on large areas.

With its contribution to the Heidi Horten Collection, Pagitsch GesmbH has underscored its leadership in acoustic solutions in the Austrian construction industry.
