EXTENSION OF THE TRADITIONAL BUILDING IN THE SKI PARADISE

Every hotel owner is also a construction manager. Walter Veit knows this all too well, having been the host of the Hotel Enzian in Obertauern for many years. During this time, hardly a single off-season passed without construction work underway, as guests expect their accommodation to meet the highest aesthetic and functional standards in every area – from the rooms to the spa. This is especially true in the ski paradise of Obertauern, where visitors can choose from more than 60 hotels.

A particularly extensive renovation took place in 2018. With the next generation taking over the family business in mind, Walter Veit decided to expand his hotel. The extent of this expansion is still evident today in the wooden facades by the Pagitsch company. At the same time, this type of building envelope ensures that the new addition blends seamlessly with the existing structure, and that the Hotel Enzian is even more beautifully integrated into the mountain landscape of the Radstadt Tauern than before.

POST-ROUND WALLS FOR ADDITIONAL STORAGE IN EXISTING BUILDINGS

Pagitsch also took care of the new roof structure and installed stud walls. A stud wall, also known as a frame wall or wall frame, is a wall construction in which the load-bearing structure consists of a framework of vertical and horizontal studs, called studs. The spaces between these studs are filled with insulation material and sheathed on both sides with panels (e.g., drywall).

Stud walls can be used as exterior walls as well as internal partition walls. Advantages include their light weight (making them particularly suitable for adding stories to existing buildings), quick assembly including the use of the cavities for electrical or plumbing installations, and – if properly constructed – excellent thermal insulation and soundproofing properties.

WOOD SUITS EVERY HOTEL CONCEPT

Ultimately, Pagitsch GesmbH demonstrated with its woodwork that this material is timeless and suits every hotel. In 2023, Walter Veit's daughter and successor, Sissi, together with her partner Julien Lefebvre, implemented a completely new concept at the Hotel Enzian. The 4-star superior hotel was transformed into an adults-only hotel for guests aged 18 and over – fundamentally changing the interior design and the culinary offerings. However, the new owners didn't alter Pagitsch's commitment to timber construction.
