In 1989, RIKA Ofentechnik became the first company to introduce pellet stoves to Europe. To this day, the company, based in Micheldorf in the Traunviertel region of Austria, remains the market leader in this sector and also produces high-quality wood-burning stoves. RIKA now relies on state-of-the-art technology. The focus is on two main areas:
1. Automation, for example, through an automated guided vehicle (AGV) system
2. Digitalization with an innovative assistance system for production employees and the collection and analysis of all relevant production data
The modernization project began in 2018 and also required the construction of a new production hall. Since then, all manufacturing processes have been consolidated in the 1,500-square-meter facility, at a cost of €1.5 million. Simultaneously, the existing parts warehouse was renovated and equipped with a brand-new industrial floor. This work was carried out by Pagitsch GesmbH.
As specialists in the new application, renovation, and coating of industrial floors, our team in Micheldorf tackled a unique challenge. The concrete floor, including the drainage channel, not only needed to be replaced, but Pagitsch also had to compensate for an existing slope and level the surface. This was achieved using the special concrete Rheobond® 007.
Compared to other types of concrete, Rheobond® 007 offers exceptional dimensional stability. It is even less prone to cracking, dries quickly, and boasts impressive strength. The Rheobond® 007 product is further enhanced with polymers and hardeners. Pagitsch ensures optimal adhesion through meticulous milling and shot blasting of the underlying concrete, as well as the application of a bonding agent, resulting in exceptionally fast renovation outcomes.
This approach has also proven successful at RIKA Ofentechnik, much to the delight of the more than 300 employees of this successful family business. The digitization and automation process is now complete, allowing the company to focus on further expansion. A forward-looking store concept was initially established in German-speaking countries and has since been extended to Sweden (Stockholm) and Italy (Verona). Further stores throughout Europe are planned, but RIKA stoves will continue to be manufactured exclusively in Austria.
Pagitsch GesmbH is particularly pleased to have contributed its expertise to the continued growth of this well-established industrial partner. Many other traditional Austrian companies have also received support. If you are also planning new production or storage facilities, or if your industrial floor needs renovation, please feel free to contact us to discuss a potential collaboration. Pagitsch stands for professional, on-time project execution, flexibility, and responsiveness to individual needs. Take advantage of this opportunity!
