Pagitsch combines traditional craftsmanship, the advantages of modular construction, and modern technology. The latter was evident in 2016 in the new construction of the showrooms for Skiservice Strolz in Lech am Arlberg, where CNC (Computerized Numerical Control) was used for the 3D curves of the spiral staircase. This technology programs machine tools to produce high-precision components using standard machining processes such as milling, turning, and cutting. Furthermore, acoustic ceilings were installed and elaborate free-form stucco work was carried out over a total area of over 1,000 square meters.
The name Strolz is omnipresent in the Arlberg region. Firstly, of course, because of the Strolz ski family from Warth: Both father Hubert and son Johannes Strolz are Olympic champions in Alpine Combined. Secondly, because of the Strolz family of entrepreneurs, who, in addition to their ski service, also operate a shop for sporting goods and clothing, a ski, snowboard, and bike rental shop, and a ski boot production facility in Lech. Strolz GmbH was founded in 1921 – with Olivia Strolz at the helm, the company is now run by the fourth generation.
Back in 2006, the renowned magazine GQ named the Strolz sports and fashion store one of the 20 best shops worldwide. But since its renovation in 2016, the Strolz ski service has also earned recognition. What appears above ground to be a modern wooden hut in the center of Lech is, below ground, a four-story ski rental shop and shop specializing in freeriding with 900 storage spaces. Particularly striking is the luxurious yet imaginative ambience, in the design of which Pagitsch GesmbH played a leading role.
The particular challenge for the Pagitsch crew was the CNC curves on the spiral staircase, as they required extreme precision. Also worth seeing are the 3D ski tracks on the ceiling – a reminiscence of the Arlberg's winter sports tradition, but also an eye-catcher for visitors and a playful element amidst the stylish ski service.
In addition to its expertise in free-form construction, a Pagitsch trademark is its acoustic ceilings. They are individually designed and meet the respective requirements – from concert halls to restaurants. In a sales area like the Strolz Ski Service, the main goal is to ensure that sales discussions can take place without disturbing visitors who want to stroll past the shelves in peace and be inspired.
