Anyone landing at Salzburg Airport will discover further striking buildings on both sides of the airport. On one side is the Red Bull Hangar-7, and on the other, the headquarters of Pappas Holding. Besides their geographical location, these buildings share the common feature that Pagitsch GesmbH played a key role in both projects. While the Lungau-based drywall specialist optimized the exterior of the hangar, it was primarily responsible for the distinctive roof structure of the car dealership.
The Pappas headquarters was built in 2006 and is the perfect stage for showcasing the premium brands Mercedes-Benz, AMG, smart, Jeep, and Kia. The project was designed by the German architectural firm Kadawittfeldarchitektur, which is also known for the redesign of Salzburg's main train station. Klaus Kada and Gerhard Wittfeld completely redefined the car dealership concept with their design.
Pappas combines sales, repair, and administration at its headquarters. A spacious service foyer is located at the center, around which the workshops are arranged in a U-shape. To make optimal use of the available space, the functional levels are stacked vertically. The dynamics and movement of the automobile served as the architects' inspiration, which is why all areas are accessible by car. Customers can move through the building as if on a street, as the different levels are connected by ramps.
The unifying element of the company building is the all-encompassing roof by Pagitsch. Covering an area of approximately 12,000 square meters, Pagitsch specialists installed lightweight cement panels from Knauf, ideally suited for seamless soffit cladding. The panels were fully plastered, painted white, and still give the Pappas building its distinctive appearance.
With the new building, the Pappas Group gained a corporate headquarters that impresses not with ostentation, but with simple aesthetics and high functionality. The location in close proximity to the airport and on a major traffic route contributes to the continued success of the internationally operating trading company. Construction took two years, cost a total of 30 million euros, and thus met the client's budget.
The Pappas building remains a flagship project for Pagitsch GesmbH, combining expertise in drywall and facade construction. Furthermore, the leading company from Lungau demonstrated its reliability and high level of professionalism as a partner for construction projects of all sizes, from private homes to 12,000-square-meter structures.
